THE CHALLENGES

Palm is a beachfront residential building on Gerrale Street, Cronulla — a facade of layered, curving slab edges and rounded corners directly exposed to coastal winds. The architecture's undulating banding means slab edges sweep in and out floor by floor, so formwork, edge protection and screens had to follow geometry that never repeats — on a tight site where the ocean frontage leaves no room for error.

OUR APPROACH

Metric Engineering delivered the temporary works design for the formwork package across eleven issue rounds from March to July 2025 — formwork and propping layouts, slab-edge protection and handrail systems following the curved perimeter, and construction methodology support down to a dedicated duct-room procedure.

A safety-in-design report accompanied the package, and the formwork handrail system was formally certified, with documentation filed for the contractor's inspection records — giving the site a clean, defensible paper trail alongside the drawings.

THE RESULTS

A certified, safety-documented temporary works package that tracked the building's curved geometry floor by floor — supporting a clean run to topping out on one of Cronulla's most exposed beachfront sites.
