Questions we get asked

When do I need a structural engineer?

Whenever the work changes how a building carries load: new buildings, extensions, removing or altering load-bearing walls, retaining walls, and new steel or concrete elements. Your certifier or council will usually ask for structural drawings and an engineer’s certificate before the Construction Certificate is issued.

Can you work from my architect’s plans?

Yes. We design from the architectural set and coordinate with your architect, builder and certifier, so the structural drawings match what is being built.

Do you inspect and certify the work on site?

Yes. We inspect at the agreed stages, such as footings, slab reinforcement before the pour and steelwork, and issue the certificates your certifier needs for the next stage and for occupation.

Do you design Class 2 buildings under the DBP Act?

Yes. We prepare regulated designs for Class 2 apartment and mixed-use buildings, with the design compliance declarations required under the NSW Design and Building Practitioners Act.

How much does structural design cost?
